Homemade Pledge (Without the Chemicals!)

One of the greatest things about being a stay-at-home mom is that I am always looking for ways to save money and keep the house clean without using awful chemicals. Some of the places that are most annoying when they are dusty are the wooden furniture items in my house. We are pet owners and have cats which shed and leave hair everywhere. The pet hair is especially visible on the wood. I don't mind using Pledge but I found that if you don't use it EXACTLY how they instruct you to use it, it can leave your furniture greasy and covered in a wierd film. It's not such a problem on things lik eend tables but it is a huge problem on places like the kitchen table. Any mother knows that food will fall on the table and the kids (especially if you have toddlers) will pick it up and eat it and I'm not thrilled about the chemicals left behind from using Pledge. I began researching homemade wood dusting products and I wanted to share what I learned!

Homemade Dusting Spray
2 teaspoons olive oil (will leave your furniture shiny!)
1/2 teaspoon lemon essential oil or lemon juice (will give it a great scent)
1/4 cup white distilled vinegar (disinfects)
1 3/4 cups of water
Spray bottle (16 oz or larger) *A new bottle is suggested so there are no residual chemicals*

Pour all ingredients into bottle and you are all set! Easy enough huh? Also if you are worried about the oil separating, just give it a good shake before use. You might want to label the bottle with the ingredients and measurements for future notice (and to be safe). There might be a slight vinegar smell but that will fade. This mixture is safe and chemical free and can be used on all solid furniture throughout the house!
